Biographical/Historical note

Nancy Goslee Power & Associates is a landscape and garden design firm based in Santa Monica, California. Founded circa 1977, the firm has designed over 150 public and private gardens. Over the course of the firm’s history, Nancy Goslee Power & Associates has collaborated with prominent architects and architectural firms, such as Frank Gehry Partners, Johnson Fain Partners, Lorcan O’Herlihy, Michael Maltzan, and Koning Eizenberg Architects. Completing projects throughout California and the larger United States, Europe, Asia, the firm has won numerous awards and many of their projects have been featured in publications such as Architectural Record, Garden Design, Landscape Architecture, House & Garden, among others. Some of the firms more notable landscape projects include those for the Norton Simon Museum (Pasadena, California), Inner-City Arts (Los Angeles, California), Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, and Moraga Vineyard (Los Angeles, California).

Scope and Content note

The Nancy Goslee Power & Associates records span 100 linear feet and date from circa 1980 to circa 2010. The collection is composed of landscape architecture drawings, photographic prints, slides, and reference material. Architectural drawings which are organized by project include: working and preliminary drawings, sketches, presentation drawings, and finalized plans. Some of the projects documented in the collection include: the Skirball Cultural Center (Los Angeles, California), Frank Gehry residence (Santa Monica, California), Ventura Museum of Art (Ventura, California), and the Norton Simon Museum (Los Angeles, California), among many others. Photographic prints and slides are organized by project. The collection is also composed of reference materials which take the form of three-ring binders composed of clippings from magazines, as well as Polaroid photographs and plant lists.
