Scope and Content of Collection

The collection contains four typescript volumes, with handwritten corrections/deletions by the editor, John Martin, of Charles Bukowski poems to be published by Harper Collins 2004-2007. These are the edito's copies, the other copies being reserved for the use of Harper Collins. They include poems which will not be included in the printed volumes, as they have been expunged by Linda Bukowski, Charles Bukowski's widow, who holds copyrights for all of his works.
No further duplication of the materials is permitted.

Sanford Dorbin Papers, 1957-2007. The collection primarily contains materials relating to Sanford Dorbin's A Bibliography of Charles Bukowski, manuscript drafts of his poetry and other writings, and files pertaining to his poetry magazine Schist: A Journal of Poetry and Graphics (1973-1978), in which some of Bukowski's poems appeared. (Mss 21).
There are also a large number of cataloged monographs by Bukowski in Special Collections and in the Main Library, including the Harper Collins-published editions of these manuscripts, which can be searched in the library catalog.
