Scope and Contents

The Pinsky Pamphlet Collection contains printed material such as pamphlets, booklets and convention proceedings published by the CIO and affiliated unions including the United Automobile, Aircraft and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America; International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union; Marine Cooks' and Stewards' Association of the Pacific Coast; and International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers primarily during the 1940's and 1950's. The collection contains 278 pamphlets and has items dated from 1936 up to 1964. With the many drawings, cartoons, and photos featured in nearly every pamphlet, the collection also serves as a rich source of labor artwork. In addition, the collection also reveals the efforts unions made toward promoting themselves and the labor stance on different political issues.
