Scope and Content

This folder contains copies of various reports from different welfare agencies, a newsletter from the State of California Department of Social Welfare, a publication from the Social Work Publicity Council, and an essay titled, "The Request for Placement has Meaning", which describes the different circumstances and motives which drive parents to request a foster home for their children.

Scope and Content

This folder contains a notebook of Jessie Dean's titled, "Outlines and Excerpts" containing papers on how to run a social work office, as well as outlines from a book titled "Personality and Social Adjustement" and other miscellaneous notes. Also in this folder are- Bulletin No. 31 of the Chicago School of Civics and Philanthropy (1916), and a report from March 1946 titled "A Study of the Child Placement Unit of the Bureau of Public Assistance Los Angeles County, California".

This folder contains many papers kept by Jessie E. Dean during the time she worked for the Department of Public Social Services in Los Angeles including transcripts of speeches she gave, a report of the Department of Charities of Los Angeles County, and miscellaneous notes and outlines on how she ran her office and managed her time.

Scope and Content

This folder contains various brochures and newsletters of different social work agencies, issues of "The Compass" and "The Family" which are publications put out by the American Association of Social Workers, and the Family Welfare Association of America, respectively. Also in this folder is a document titled, "Nomenclature of Psychiatric Disorders" and miscellaneous notes and publications regarding social case work.

This folder contains two publications, one being "The Social Workers' Dictionary" and the other being "The Case Worker's Desk Manual". The latter is described as "a compendium of information for daily use by practioners of social case work".
