    Scope and Contents

    This series of letters was initiated by thirteen year-old Phyllis Reeve with an inquiry to the Department of the Interior regarding land ownership in Arizona. Alexander T. Vogelsang, First Assisant Secretary of the Interior, responded to the letter by describing the wonders of the West. Letters were composed from August 7, 1920 to September 10, 1920. These letters are copies made from the originals held by the San Diego Public Library.
