    Scope and Contents

    Materials in this collection are from 1900-1929 and include fiction and non-fiction mansucripts on the history of Southern California by Rose L. Ellerbe, as well as her personal papers. Personal papers include correspondence, financial records, and information on the Pasadena Center for Russian Handicrafts. Ellerbe's papers also include files on Henry E. Huntington.

    Biographical Note

    Rose Lucille Ellerbe (1894-1929) came to California as a teacher in 1884 and then became a journalist, contributing regularly to the Los Angeles Times. Ellerbe published many short stories and wrote several monographs on California history. Ellerbe was involved with the Pasadena Center for Russian Handicrafts. Ellerbe's cousin was Frank Rolfe, a geologist who worked on the Los Angeles Aqueduct Survey and who donated his library of books and papers to the Southwest Museum library in 1933.
