The collection consists of memorandums, correspondence, reports, and notes on subjects including councils and committees, faculty, student issues, course schedules, and departments within Seaver College. Materials in the collection span from 1972 to 1981.

Norman Hughes was a professor of biology at Pepperdine University, and the Academic Dean of Seaver College during the late 1970s. He was also one of the professors responsible for founding the Great Books Colloquium at Seaver College.
