Biographical/Historical note
The partnership of Johnson, Kaufmann & Coate was established in 1921 and was composed of Reginald D. Johnson, Gordon B. Kaufmann,
and Roland Coate Sr. The firm dissolved in 1925, but over the course of the five years the firm existed, the three architects
designed churches, private residences, and universities in southern California.
Scope and Content note
The Johnson, Kaufmann & Coate drawings of Saint Paul's Cathedral span 3 linear feet and date from 1922. The collection consists
of one folder containing 18 architectural drawings in the form of reprographic copies. Drawings include: heating and electrical
wiring, boiler and fan room plans, clerestory plan, reinforced concrete details, sections, roof plan, basement plan, steel
construction details, elevations, plot plan, balcony plan, and first floor plan.
