The collection comprises prints of photographs by gay photographer and artist Andrew J. Epstein. The majority of the materials,
including photographs and text panels, were part of the 2009 exhibition "Queer Culture: The Photographs of A.J. Epstein."
The photographs document LGBT communities in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, 1968-2009.
Background
Andrew J. (A.J.) Epstein is a photographer and artist. Since the late-1960s, he photographed LGBT communities and events
in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He has also worked as an art director and graphic designer for numerous
publications.
