Abstract: The collection contains photographs and negatives taken by Hanson A. Williams, Jr. between 1938 and 1963. Images are primarily of the George Pepperdine College campus, Pepperdine students and faculty, campus events, sororities and fraternities, and other topics. One box of material includes digitized images taken while Williams was a private in the US Army during the Korean War, between 1951 and 1952.

Materials were donated by Hanson Williams' wife, Talma (Tommie) Williams, in April, 2010 and March 18, 2011.

Biographical/Historical note

Hanson A. Williams, Jr. was born on November 14, 1928. Williams was a photographer at Pepperdine who provided pictures of the campus, students, and events, mainly between 1938 and the late 1950s. He graduated with a BA from George Pepperdine College in June, 1950. Many of his photographs were used in the Pepperdine yearbook, the Promenade. Williams was also a private in the US Army during the Korean War, and took photographs there for the press corps from 1951 to 1952. He had an office at Pepperdine, and later moved his work to Hermosa Beach, California. Williams passed away on December 3, 2009. His wife, Talma (Tommie) Williams lived in Tehachapi, California, as of March, 2011.

The collection contains photographs and negatives taken by Hanson A. Williams, Jr. between 1938 and 1963. Images are primarily of the George Pepperdine College campus, Pepperdine students and faculty, campus events, sororities and fraternities, and other topics. One box of material includes digitized images taken while Williams was a private in the US Army during the Korean War, between 1951 and 1952.
