Biographical note

Adrey E. Borell completed his Graduate work through the MVZ at Berkeley, also serving on the MVZ staff as Assistant Curator of Mammals. He accompanied Joseph Grinnell on a field trip of the Mt. Lassen Survey, and during 1927-1929 he took part in the first comprehensive mammal survey in the Ruby Mountains of Nevada. Borell’s Berkeley dissertation was titled Mammals of the Ruby Mountain Region of Eastern Nevada. His best-known publication is a book titled Mammals of the Big Bend Area of Texas, published in 1942 and co-authored with Monroe David Bryant. Following his association with the MVZ, Borell worked as a Wildlife Technician for Grand Canyon National Park and the Soil Conservation Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Denver, Colorado.

Scope and contents note

The Adrey E. Borell field notes include two standard-bound volumes of field notes with habitat and specimen sketches. These volumes cover the years 1924-1926 and feature localities in California and Mexico. Also included are an MVZ Census Sheet and a folded map, along with sections containing notes and specimens collected.
