Organizational History
SoundVision Productions is an independent, non-profit production company founded in 1995. From 1998 to 2007 SoundVision researched
and produced 19 one-hour radio programs, The DNA Files, exploring not only the science of genetics, but its ethical, social
and legal implications.
Scope and Contents
The DNA Files was an award-winning series of radio programs hosted by John Hockenberry and guided by an outstanding panel
of advisors. Collection includes: Release Forms; Backgrounders for the various shows (includes some basic research of the
issues, list of possible interviewees, and contact information); Treatments (some early programming ideas); Flyers and Ads
in Current (Public Media's industry paper); Comments from science and expert advisors about treatment and/or script; Box of
materials regarding the public radio station DNA Files Outreach project; Boxes of articles that were used as source/fact-checking/background
information; Copies of the programs (audio)—DCs; Copies of the source tapes (interviews, ambiance, acquired content)-Cassettes,
DATS, few mini-discs; Transcripts of the programs; Transcripts and/or logs for many of the interviews; Hard-Drive with audio
of final programs.
