Abstract: This collection contains an incomplete but representative selection of records documenting the work of the Filipino Task Force
on AIDS (FTFA), an organization dedicated to ending the risk of HIV/AIDS in the Filipino community. There are a wide variety
of materials in the collection, including correspondence and memos; meeting agendas, minutes and reports; budgets and general
ledgers; risk assessments and surveys about sexual behavior; materials related to programs and events, such as Transgender
Intervention for Filipinas (TGIF) and the Miss Trans Globe Pageant.
Language of Material: English
Collection is open for research, with the following exceptions: mailing and contact lists and documents containing client
names have been restricted. Contact the Managing Archivist for more information.

Biography/Administrative History
Established in 1988, the Filipino Task Force on AIDS (FTFA) was dedicated to ending the risk of HIV/AIDS in the Filipino community.
FTFA offered a comprehensive range of HIV/AIDS-related services to Filipinos and Asian-Pacific Islanders. They targeted gay,
bisexual and transgender Filipinos, populations that had been historically underserved. The organization closed its doors
in 2005. FTFA provided services in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area through case management, client care, community
events, drop-in counseling, media campaigns, prevention outreach, speakers’ bureaus, support groups and workshops.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection contains an incomplete but representative selection of records documenting the work of the Filipino Task Force
on AIDS (FTFA), an organization dedicated to ending the risk of HIV/AIDS in the Filipino community. Established in 1988, FTFA
offered an array of HIV/AIDS-related services to Filipinos and Asian-Pacific Islanders. The organization closed in 2005. The
collection has been divided into nine Series: Organizational Records and Administrative Files, which include personnel records;
Board of Directors Records; Financial Records; Grants; Contracts; Programs and Client Services; Subject Files; Photographs;
and Artifacts. There are a wide variety of materials in the collection, including correspondence and memos; meeting agendas,
minutes and reports; budgets and general ledgers; risk assessments and surveys about sexual behavior; materials related to
programs and events, such as Transgender Intervention for Filipinas (TGIF) and the Miss Trans Globe Pageant. Materials containing
client names and contact information of volunteers and individual donors are restricted. Original folder titles were retained
when available. Researchers should also consult FTFA’s newsletter, “ATBP,” which is available in the GLBT Historical Society
