Biographical/Historical note

Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue was born on April 28, 1869. Goodhue did not receive a formal architectural education, instead he apprenticed with the architect James Renwick starting in circa 1884. After his apprenticeship, he was a partner in the firm Cram, Wentworth and Goodhue from 1892 to 1898 in New York City. From 1898 to 1914, Goodhue became a partner in the firm of Cram, Goodhue and Ferguson. After that firm dissolved Goodhue opened a practice of his own in New York which operated until 1924, the year Goodhue died. Although Goodhue practice was based in New York, he traveled extensively during his career, collaborating with architects such as Carleton Monroe Winslow, Sr. in southern California.
