Table of contents What's This?
Records of investigation and hearings held by the Society of California Pioneers on the membership of Alfred Furbush Goss based on his representation of having arrived in San Francisco on October 11, 1849. He was admitted to the Vermont Chapter of the Society in the 1880s. On coming to San Francisco in 1889, he attempted to attend Society meetings, but members became suspicious of his story. These case files contain extensive correspondence, testimonies, affidavits, and hearing transcripts for sessions that ran from March 24 to March 31, 1900. Final ruling was for Goss' expulsion from the Society, dated April 2, 1900.
