    Biography

    George Roy Hill was an American director and producer active in film from 1962 to 1988. He was nominated by the Academy for directing BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID (1969) and received an Oscar for directing THE STING (1973).

    Collection Scope and Content Summary

    The George Roy Hill papers span the years 1936-1989 (bulk 1963-1989) and encompass approximately 22.9 linear feet. The collection contains scripts and production material for all of Hill's films except his first. There is also a small amount of material on several unproduced properties and two television films. The subject files largely contain personal correspondence received after 1973. The photograph series consists of prints, contact sheets, slides, negatives, and photo albums of scene, off-camera, and research photographs.
