Scope and Contents

This series contains materials that broadly encompass Graboi's personal life from 1941 through 1998. It consists of Graboi's resumes and curriculum vitae; astrological birth charts; personal photographs, negatives, photo albums, and scrapbooks; and records pertaining to her birthday parties. It also includes records documenting her immigration from Vienna to the United States, her involvement in the Long Island theatre industry, and her application for financial assistance from the Austrian government.

Professional and recreational activities 1965-1999

Scope and Contents

This series contains records of Graboi's professional and recreational activities from the 1960s through 1999. Regarding Graboi's professional activities in the early 1960s, the series includes manuscripts of Graboi's translations of plays from French and German into English as well as correspondence detailing her efforts to propose and stage her translated and self-written plays. The series documents Graboi's introduction to and involvement in the counterculture from the mid-1960s through the 1990s. It includes records of her organization, Third Force Lecture Bureau, through which she met influential members of the counterculture and psychedelic movements such as Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, Richard Alpert (Ram Dass), and Alan Watts. The series consists of posters, publications, correspondence, and ephemera regarding conferences, lectures, events, organizations, and projects Graboi participated in. Also included are transcripts and notes for interviews and talks conducted with and by Graboi. Many of these materials pertain to events held in Woodstock, Santa Cruz, and other locations in California. In addition, the series contains records regarding Graboi's editorial work, such as her feedback on a manuscript by Ralph Abraham, a mathematics professor who she worked with at UC Santa Cruz.

This sub-series consists of records related to Graboi's autobiography, One Foot in the Future: A Woman's Spiritual Journey , which was published by Aerial Press in 1991.
