Scope and Content of Collection
These Northern Pacific Railroad materials are arranged by document type or subject. Documents, which are sometimes specific
form numbers, date between 1872 and 1927 and include: expense bills, correspondence, freight receipts, leases, permits, requisitions,
and records of payments. There is a certificate issued to locomotive engineer Earl P. Stuart for 44 years (1906-1951) of
service on Northern Pacific. There is a 1914 check issued by NP to employee F. L. Corrigan in the amount of seven cents.
Arranged alphabetically by document type.
Subject files relate to special instructions for trains, spur tracks, and unions. Special instructions include draft revisions,
bulletins and memos about train speed, clearances, and signals issued by the Superintendent at Tacoma, Washington. The spur
and track files include: requisitions for Authorities for Expenditure forms (No. 1363), Superintendent's notice to start improvement
work forms (No. 523), and correspondence about improvements to spurs in the Seattle -- Tacoma area of Washington. There is
a file pertaining to the building of an ice house at Puyallup, Washington. The union files include correspondence addressed
to Northern Pacific Superintendents by representatives of various unions about pay and assignment disputes.

name (unions).
