Biography

Jackie Coogan was an American actor, best known as a child actor during the 1920s.

Collection Scope and Content Summary

The Jackie Coogan papers span the years 1919-1984 (bulk 1920s-1930s) and encompass 24.4 linear feet. The bulk of the papers consist of 27 scrapbooks, which begin in 1921 and continue until 1982. They cover both Coogan's professional and personal life in detail. There are only a few scripts and some miscellaneous material related to Coogan's film and television career. There are miscellaneous clippings and a small amount of correspondence. The photograph series contains more than 3,000 photographic prints that document Coogan's life and career, predominantly covering his years as a child star.
