The collection consists of the records of
the Music Department, which is located in the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, &
Communication. Items in the collection include accreditation reports, brochures, event
fliers, newsletters, concert tickets, calendars, and a number of concert programs for
student, faculty, and guest performances.
The Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, & Communication was first organized in 1963 at
San Fernando Valley State College as the School of Fine Arts and Professional Studies.
In 1972, when the campus became California State University, Nothridge, the majors of
the School of Fine Arts were split into two new schools. The School of Arts was formed
from the Departments of Art, Theatre, and Music, while the Departments of Health,
Journalism, Physical Education, and Recreation were placed the new School of
Communication and Professional Studies.
