Description
This collection primarily consists of Jim Cavener's reviews of theater, artists and art exhibits, music, and community news and events of the Greater San Bernandino Area from 1987-1997. Clippings from Upland Magazine, Rancho Cucamonga News, Inland Valley Daily Empire and Ontario Daily Report as well as performing arts clippings comprise the bulk of the materials. The collection also includes event flyers, photographs of theater productions, correspondence, and general LGBT articles.
Background
Jim Cavener was born in California and worked in the greater San Bernadino Area for 25 years as a daily print journalist and theater and arts critic at Upland Magazine, Rancho Cucamonga News, Inland Valley Daily Empire and Ontario Daily Report. As of 2013, he resides in Asheville, North Carolina where he works as a journalist at the Asheville Citizen Times. In addition, he is an active member of Quaker community groups such as Society and Friends and Friends for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Concerns. He is also a trustee for Friends Journal.
