This collection contains documents, objects, and ephemera from the War Relocation Authority (primarily at the Gila River Relocation
Center), collected and/or written by Hugo Wolter. Items date primarily from 1943-1945, and include office papers, correspondence,
reports, yearbooks, pamphlets and programs, and other objects.
Background
Hugo W. Wolter worked for the War Relocation Authority (WRA) in multiple roles. He was Assistant Project Director in the
Community Management Division at the Gila River Relocation Center from March 1943 to August 1944, and later moved back to
Virginia to work in Washington D.C. where he was the Head of the Center Liaison Section in the Relocation Division.
