The Tom Stoddard Collection was donated to the Stanford Archive of Recorded Sound by Loretta Stoddard in 2011.

Scope and contents

The Tom Stoddard collection consists of books written by the Tom Stoddard, including The Autobiography of Pops Foster: New Orleans Jazzman and Jazz on the Barbary Coast; open reel tape recordings of interviews supporting his research; a collection of historical photographs and ephemera relating to traditional jazz music of New Orleans and San Francisco's Barbary Coast; early jazz music periodicals; record catalogs; sheet music and scores belonging to Sid LeProtti.
