Immediate Source of Acquisition
Most materials were collected from University Archives files. The Carol Hennesey scrapbook was donated to the archives by
Carol (Hennesey) Carlson. The George Pepperdine College scrapbook and dorm trash can was donated by Arlene and Tom Dubas.
The George Pepperdine College pep club blouse and vest were donated by Bobbie Craig Fry. Varsity Varieties programs were donated
by Barbara (Bobby) Dobbins Title and Marlene Will. Freshman beanies were donated by David Ottalini and Lilian Green.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of materials related to student life or produced by students during their time at Pepperdine. Materials
in the collection include student handbooks and registries; student orientation guides and information; housing and student
health information; photographs, fliers, handbooks, and other materials related to student activities such as clubs, intramural
sports, Greek Life, student journalism, and cultural enrichment; fliers, photographs and calendars of special events on campus;
photographs of student and campus life; memorabilia; and a number of student-created scrapbooks from different eras at Pepperdine.
Materials in the collection range from 1937 to 2012.

Scope and Content
The series consists of student handbooks, as well as new student registries. Student handbooks contain general information
about Pepperdine, including information on campus locations, the academic calendar, student services, housing, and university
policies and regulations. New student registries are a smaller type of yearbook that contain photos and basic information
on that year's incoming freshman class. Materials in the series range from 1938 to 2012.

The series consists of materials related to student orientation activities on campus. Items include guidebooks, brochures,

Scope and Content
The series contains materials related to student housing on campus, as well as health services provided for Pepperdine students.
Items in the series include housing handbooks, plans for the student recreation village, information on campus counseling
services, a contract between suite roommates in 1938 written by student Helen Mattox (who later married M. Norvel Young),
dorm life photographs, and student phone directories. Materials in the series range from 1938 to 1998.

Scope and Content
The series contains materials related to various student activities on campus. Materials in the series include intramural
sport handbooks, fliers, photographs, and calendars; handbooks, fliers, articles, photographs, and programs for student organizations
and honor societies such as Alpha Chi; fraternity/sorority handbooks, fliers, rush applications, and articles on Greek Life
on campus; awards given to student journalists on campus; underground student publications including
The Pepper Diner and
Making Waves; and fliers, brochures, photographs, and programs for cultural enrichment programs, various ethnic studies programs, and
diversity initiatives on campus. Materials in the series range from 1937 to 2000.

The series contains materials related to special events given on campus for the Pepperdine community. Items in the series
include event calendars, fliers, programs, and articles. Also included are photographs of various events held on campus, which
include luaus, picnics, Valentine's Day, Western Day, Fasching Day, Halloween, and blood drives among others. Materials in
the series range from 1937 to 2003.

Miscellaneous Student Affairs Materials and Memorabilia
1938-2011
Scope and Content
The series contains miscellaneous materials related to student life that could not be categorized elsewhere. Items in the
series include photographs of students moving in, on campus, at sports games, in class, and at other campus events; miscellaneous
printed materials including a survey on student activities, copies of Pepperdine's alma mater, and regulations on student
posters; and news clippings on various student affairs. Other items include 3D objects such as a George Pepperdine College
dorm trash can, George Pepperdine College clothing (a sweatshirt, and multiple freshman beanies), and two Sigma Tau Sigma
mugs from 1960 and 1961 (formerly owned by Rich Cantrell). Materials in the series range from 1938 to 2011.

Series 7:
Student Scrapbooks
1946-1986
Scope and Content
The series consists of a number of scrapbooks compiled by Pepperdine students documenting different aspects of student life
on campus. This includes a scrapbook compiled by alumna Carol Hennesey of her experience at Pepperdine from 1954 to 1958,
two scrapbooks from Pepperdine College's Social Club documenting special campus events from 1945 to 1948, a number of scrapbooks
documenting Pepperdine's Home Management Labratory Experience from 1963 to 1974, Greek life scrapbooks from 1947 to the late
1960s, and a general student life scrapbook from 1982 to 1986.
Box 5
Carol Hennesey Scrapbook
1954-1958
Biographical note
Carol Hennesey (now Carlson) was a student at Pepperdine College from 1954 to 1958. She was involved in many sororities on
campus, as a member of Alpha Gamma and president of both Theta Sigma Chi and the national music sorority, Mu Phi Epsilon.
Hennesey was also a member of the International Students Club, the College Philharmonic Associates, and was president of Pepperdine's
Associated Women Students. Hennesey is still involved in life at Pepperdine, most recently participating in a George Pepperdine
College Alumni Panel held by Pepperdine University Libraries Special Collections in October of 2011.
Scope and Content
The scrapbook contains materials collected by Carol Hennesey while she was a student at Pepperdine College from 1954 to 1958.
Materials include invitations and programs for various events, newspaper clippings regarding Pepperdine, Hennesey's scholarship
notices and student ID cards, a photograph of a Spring Sing event, and administrative materials related to various student
clubs and organizations with which Hennesey was involved. Also included are two recordings of Spring Sing, and an inscribed
gavel marking Hennesey's presidency of the music sorority Mu Phi Epsilon.
Arrangement
Pages of the scrapbook were disassembled and arranged into folders thematically by Carol Hennesey before its donation to the
archives. Folders are now arranged alphabetically by folder title, with original folder titles maintained when possible.
Box 6
Social Club Scrapbooks
1946-1948
Scope and Content
The Social Club scrapbooks consist of two scrapbooks containing items related to social activities and events happening at
Pepperdine College put on or attended by the Social Club from 1945 to 1948. Items in the scrapbooks include invitations, programs,
articles, tickets and other memorabilia from events and trips, and various receipts and lists of costs for events.

Home Management Labratory Experience Scrapbooks
1963-1974
Scope and Content
The Home Management Labratory Experience scrapbooks consist of eleven scrapbooks that document various academic terms in the
Home Management class house from 1963 to 1974. As a part of the Home Management course, a small number of students would live
in special housing and host numerous dinner parties and other events as a practical extension of the course. Items in the
scrapbooks include photographs; news articles; invitations, menus, place cards, and guest lists for parties; and thank you
notes from guests.

Greek Life Scrapbooks
1947-1960s
Scope and Content
The scrapbooks consist of two Phi Beta scrapbooks (1954 to 1956 and 1962 to 1963), one Beta Gamma Delta scrapbook (1947 to
1949), and one Sigma Tau Sigma scrapbook (with other student life material, from the 1960s). The Sigma Tau Sigma scrapbook
was created by Jim Allen Dilbeck. The scrapbooks mostly contain newspaper clippings, photographs, invitations, and events
programs.

Scope and Content
The scrapbook (1982 to 1986) contains mainly programs and flyers advertising student events on campus, calendars of students
events, and athletics announcements.
