Description
This is a typed copy of a manuscript entitled "Notes of an Interview With Hon. Thomas Gates by E.J. Trippel." The document is undated but the content within refers to a prison riot known as the Gates Riot which occurred on 1887 October 27 at the Yuma Territorial Prison in Arizona. The manuscript itself is undated.
Background
Thomas Gates was born in Canada on 1833 January 8, to Hiram Gates and Sarah Maria Sayles. He later married Maria Emilie Prudhomme. He passed away on 1896 March 13, in Yuma, Arizona Territory.
