Scope and Content of Collection

This collection is the result of the efforts of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and contains 3 separate folders. One folder contains various in-depth case files on several Civil War veterans who were interred in Yolo County. These case files contain general biographical information on the veteran, the record of their military service, information on where they were interred and what marker or tombstone marks their location, whether that marker needed to be replaced or reset, or if they did not in fact have a marker and were in need of one, along with photocopies of outside sources, newspaper articles, and photos of the markers. The second folder contains the directives, guidelines and templates used by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War to carry out their project. The third folder contains a 2007 lists of every union veteran recorded as interred in Yolo County cemeteries, along with a 2010 list of known Confederate soldiers buried in Yolo County, and one 2010 list of all Union soldiers interred in Woodland, CA.
