The California Youth Authority (CYA) Collection, donated by Charles F. Stocker, liaison from CYA to the California Adult Student
Assessment System (CASAS), documents the transition of the CYA education system in the 1980s from a conventional to a competency-based
program that used CASAS as the assessment system. There are materials on CASAS and its selection as the data management system
for CYA and on the ensuing curriculum and staff development. Related department manuals and a slide show used for staff development
