Description
The CA Kilger Machine Works, Inc. Collection comprises parts catalogs, technical specs, and user's manuals for machinery relating to printing, collating, and other stages in the book and paper goods production processes, all collected by Allen Stump from CA Kilger Machine Works, Inc. The materials date between approximately 1920 and 1990 CE.
Background
CA Kilger Machine Works, Inc. was a long-running machine shop in San Francisco, California, previously located at 620 Treat Street. The machine shop closed down before Boor Bridges Architecture renovated it and turned it into a brewpub. Allen Stump began his printing career in Los Angeles as a boy, and worked in press shops in a variety of locations before starting aMano Press in Hayward, California, which ran for about eight years. He passed away in 2015.
