Guy Green was a British-born cinematographer who transitioned to directing in the mid-1950s and
relocated to the United States in the early 1960s. His credits as a cinematographer include two films
with David Lean, GREAT EXPECTATIONS (1946) and OLIVER TWIST (1948). His notable films as director include
THE ANGRY SILENCE (1960) and A PATCH OF BLUE (1965); he also wrote the screenplay for the latter. He was
a founding member of the British Society of Cinematographers. Green received an Academy Award for
cinematography for GREAT EXPECTATIONS.
