Biography/History

Charles and Violet were a married couple residing in Northridge, California. Charles Moore Kalil (October 28, 1905-January 19, 1985) was born in Maryland. His father was the proprietor of a restaurant, Kalil’s Cafeteria, where Charles would eventually work as a manager before he moved to California. Violet Marguerite Morris (June 22, 1907-May 8, 1999) was born in New Jersey. Her parents were from England and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1890s, where her father worked as a milkman. Charles and Violet were married on May 21, 1938 at the Wilshire Wedding Chapel in Los Angeles and settled in California. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from October 28, 1942 to February 8, 1945 and was stationed on the U.S.S. Anzio (CVE-57), U.S.S. Edwards (DD 619), and U.S.S. De Grasse (AP 164). The two resided in Northridge, California. Charles and Violet Kalil are both buried at Los Angeles National Cemetery.
