Biography

Bruce Meulendyke was born in 1920. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a veteran of World War II. He had a daughter with his first wife Ruth Chadsey. Bruce married second to Ethel (Chadsey) Leonard on April 10, 1971 at Old Saybrook, Connecticut. He was employed at the Electric Boat Shipyard for 32 years until his retirement.

Scope and Contents

Slides taken by Bruce Meulendyke on his train trips in Europe and the United States between 1950 and 1996. Trips to Switzerland, Scandanavia, Britain, Germany as well as trips in the United States to Texas, Georgia, and San Francisco are documented here. They include images of locomotives, rolling stock, landscapes, rail signs and portraits of railroad employees.
