Series Scope and Content Summary

Office Records contain correspondence, public relations material, project portfolios and photographs. The most significant materials in the Office Records are files of design notes, and extensive documentation of completed projects including photographs, slides, clippings of articles about specific projects, and project descriptions.

Comprised of drawings of projects and ideas with notes to design team members and a large file, "1994 Chron", of correspondence relating to projects and other matters including development of a planned "manifesto" on public housing.

Scope and Content Note

Includes 2 folders of photographs and slides of Marquis Associates staff, picnics, and parties. The remainder of the subseries contains photographs, slides, and design drawings of finished and a few un-built projects arranged alphabetically by project. These files appear to be used as source materials for marketing presentations.

Includes project histories and directories removed from their original binders but foldered in their original order which is alphabetically by project name or numerically by project number. Information includes cost data, subcontractor information, fact sheets, and directories for many projects. The information in these folders, 217-221, is not included on the project index under individual projects, but contains information on a majority of Marquis's projects.

SERIES IV. PROJECT RECORDS

Physical Description: Box 10-29, Flat File and Tubes

Series Scope and Content Summary

Comprised of drawings, specifications, and correspondence relating to projects throughout Marquis's career. Significant projects include several San Francisco public housing projects; the Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College in New York, U.S. Embassy buildings in Costa Rica and Bangladesh, projects for a number of U.C. campuses, community centers, libraries. The projects are arranged by project number, which follows a chronological numbering system. However, when projects have more than one project number they are all kept together under the earliest or most significant project number. Each project may contain various types of documents including drawings, reports, specifications, contracts and/or correspondence. The folders in the series are not numbered; the Project Index notes the box(es) that contains all folders for a given project.
