Biographical / Historical

Graydon Edward Spalding (1911-1993) worked as the stacks supervisor in the Rare Books Department of the Huntington Library. His avocation was theater, and he performed in productions at the Pasadena Playhouse and other San Gabriel Valley venues. Spalding also presented one-man shows and workshops for drama classes at Pasadena High School, Pasadena City College, and others. He also served as an army private during World War II.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains diaries, correspondence and ephemera pertaining to Spalding's army experiences during the Second World War, as an army private working as a mailroom clerk, with the military police, and in a German Prisoner of War camp, as well as his theater work for the Pasadena Playhouse.
