Abstract: La Casa de la Raza is a non-profit community center on the Eastside of Santa Barbara, California. Founded in 1971, the mission
of La Casa de la Raza is to develop and empower the Latino community by affirming and preserving the Latino cultural heritage,
providing an umbrella for services and by advocating for participation in the larger community. This is a small collection
mainly consisting of six recorded interviews with some of La Casa de la Raza's key co-founders and leaders, interviewed by
UCSB Chicana/o Studies Professor Ralph Armbruster-Sandoval during October 2001. The collection also contains a small amount
of ephemera including newsclippings and announcements about La Casa de la Raza. An additional VHS tape, (La Casa de la Raza
and the Chicano artist community) originally housed in the Main Library, was digitized and added to this collection.
Physical Location: The recordings have been digitized and are stored on the Library network. The original audio-cassettes are stored in the cold
vault.
The collection is open for research.

October 200.There were no signed interview releases provided with the recordings, except for one by Thomas Costelo dated Feb.
