Abstract: A collection of 53 black and white, carte-de-visite cards (photographic prints) of prominent Mexican military and political
figures from the mid 19th century measuring approximately 100 mm x 64 mm each.

Arrangement of Materials:
The collection is arranged in a single series and consists of one folder. Within the folder there are 18 mylar sleeves housing
3 cards each; with the exception of the last sheet which only contains 2 cards. The bulk of the collection is arranged alphabetically
by subject's last name while the remaining cards are of unidentified subjects.
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of portraits of Mexican political and military leaders between the years of 1860 and 1870.
Most cards were printed in Mexico by Fotographia Aubert y Cia, while some cards were printed by other printers in Mexico as
well as Paris, Stockholm, and some unknown. Included are some collage style images of individuals grouped together, unidentified
women and children, as well as personnel surrounding the execution of President Maximilian.
