Biography

Clifford Merrill Drury had a noteworthy career as a pastor, seminary professor, historian, and Navy chaplain. Born in 1897 in Early, Iowa, Drury was a graduate of Buena Vista College and San Francisco Theological Seminary and earned a PhD from the University of Edinburgh.

Scope and Content

The Clifford Merrill Drury papers consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, research notes, and typescripts related to Drakes Bay (Calif.), Drake's Plate of Brass, the history of religion in California, Rudolph James Wig, and Anson Burlingame. At the end of the box, there is a miscellaneous folder consisting of a letter from Sacramento County Free Library to Clifford M. Drury and two notes concerning Henry Kendall and the Coloma plaque.
