Description
This collection includes lantern slides of both photographs and illustrations of the Modoc War from 1872 to 1873. Notable
images include portraits of Modoc leader Captain Jack and Winema (Toby) Riddle, shaman Curly-headed Doctor, and Indian scout
Donald McKy; and the lava beds that served as the Modocs’ stronghold.
There are 29 photographs by Eadweard Muybridge, and 10 by Louis Heller.
