2 sets of documents bound together and certified by the Office of the Surveyor General. The documents are in Spanish with English translations. Set one is a traced copy of the lease of Mission Santa Barbara to Nicholas Den and Daniel Hill and was certified on 8 April 1865. Set two is a copy of the grant by Governor Pio Pico to Richard S. Den for the lands of the MIssion Santa Barbara, dated 10 June 1846. Also included is a short note from Pio Pico, dated 9 June 1946 stating that Richard Den had permission to pass freely to and from the Department of the Californias with no impediment.

Group 2: 1 photo 6.5 x 3 in. mounted on card, of an adobe called Casa Blanca. On verso it is also labeled Governers [sic] House, W.J. Rea, photographer, 1884; 1 photo 4.5 x 7.5 in. labeled Presidio Palace and on verso is labeled Palace of commandant, Presidio Santa Barbara.
