Biographical / Historical
Dalton B. Suggs had an extensive career designing and testing aircraft power plants and engines. He began as an aircraft mechanic
and barnstormer in Ft. Worth Texas, and most of his career was spent with General Dynamics, under the Convair Division in
both Ft. Worth, and San Diego, California. He was an inventor with many patents and also proposed ideas for city infrastructure
like a Coronado Bridge cable car. One of the most famous aircrafts he worked on was the Pogo (or XFY-1) which was the first
aircraft with vertical takeoff.
After years spent focusing on aircraft, Suggs, eventually worked in Missile and Space programs, working for the Astronautics
Missile Division of general Dynamics and the Atlas program.
