The Flying Cloud (built 1851; clipper) crew list (SAFR 17211, HDC 303) is comprised of one crew list (one oversized page) for a voyage commencing April 25, 1854, departing from New York, bound for Hong Kong. The collection is available for research use without restriction.
Background
When the Flying Cloud was launched on April 15, 1851, at East Boston, she was the fastest merchant ship afloat. She regularly sailed from New York to San Francisco. In 1851 she made the journey from New York to San Francisco in only 89 days, a world record that the Flying Cloud itself beat three years later (a record that would not be broken until 1989).
