Historical Note

The School of Architecture and Urban Planning opened for instruction in 1966 in response to the rapid urbanization of Southern California and the growing need in the region for architects and urban planners. The two-year master's program emphasized design-oriented studio work based strongly on the social and technological sciences. George A. Dudley was appointed the first dean of the school in 1984, almost two years prior to the arrival of the first students.

Record Series 324 contains the correspondence of the Dean's Office at the UCLA Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning from 1985 to 1987. The materials are arranged in chronological order.
