Series Scope and Content Summary

This series contains gelatin silver prints, contact sheets and proof prints, transparencies and slides, negatives and film reels. The vast majority of photographs are unmounted and are either 8x10" or 11x14". Jorgensen's original order was preserved when possible. Some prints are badly curled and are unavailable for viewing.
Image content: 1.Biographical 2. Pre World War II in Oregon, Washington, and Canada 3. World War II with Edward Steichen in the Pacific Theater on the USS Lexington, USS Monterey, and the hospital ship, USS Solace. Aircraft factories in Monterey and San Diego, California, and U.S. Naval training in various locations. 4. Post World War II Africa documenting the mining of gold, copper, and diamonds, as well as native tribes, townships, cities, and local businesses. 5. Post World War II Europe including recovery efforts in France and Germany, the Utrecht Trade Fair, the Salzburg Seminar, and general stories from Denmark, England, Italy, and Switzerland. 6. From the 1950's in the United States there are images for the exhibit, "How America Lives", and other human interest stories documenting the era, including schools, businesses, manufacturing, rural communities, executives, and scientists with their families.
