The account is about a girl, presumably the author, growing up in England and going to America after the death of her mother
to live with her sister and brother-in-law. The manuscript ends with her on a train before her arrival to Nevada on Christmas
day. The name of the author is unknown.
Presumably the account is of the author's own experience. The account is of a young woman born and raised in England. Her
father died when she was a baby and her mother was in delicate health so she was largely raised by her sister Edith who was
ten years older than the author. She also had a brother Edwin who married when the author was ten and moved to Scotland.
