    Abstract: The C-2 Shipfitter's Prints (SAFR 21358, HDC1299) consists of one booklet containing 24 pages of C-2 (freighter) shipfitter's prints. They were produced by an unnamed shipyard's Hull Planning Department, West Yard. Most were drawn by "P.H." or "W.W." They are blueprints that include the hulls in profile; shell expansion; deck plating; girders, beams and hatch assemblies; aft gun platforms; bulkheads, shaft and pipe tunnels and water and settling tanks; engine and boiler room casings; and cross sections of various decks. Collection is open for use.

    These blueprints are part of a bulk accession from Golden Gate National Recreational Area when the San Francisco Maritime Museum became a National Historical Park in 1988.

    Historical or Biographical Note

    There is no information regarding the creator in the collection file. According to the website "American Merchant Marine at War" (www.usmm.org), C2 freighters were all-purpose cargo ships designed by the U.S. Maritime Commission in 1937-1938 and nearly 200 were built between 1940 and 1945.
