Description
Christa Zinner was a well-known fashion and advertising photographer from the 1940s through the 1970s. Her photographs appeared in many popular magazines and newspaper supplements including Ebony, Look, Life, Harpers Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, TV Guide, etc. The collection consists of photographs, negatives, and slides including those not selected for the actual magazines. Many of the magazines themselves are included in the collection as well as single magazine pages.
Background
Christa Zinner was born in Germany; visited the US for 14 months as a student and returned permanently two years later; operated a golf links restaurant; became a fashion model in San Francisco, and became interested in photography (commercial, portrait, and fashion); managed a photo studio while taking classes at Los Angeles Art Center School; opened her own commercial studio for fashion photography with an emphasis on editorial assignments; and married motion picture editor and director Peter Zinner. She is currently a sculptor living in Los Angeles.
