Administrative History:
In 1947 Charles E. Fuller and Harold John Ockenga co-founded Fuller Theological Seminary with the help of three founding Board
of Trustees members, Herbert Taylor of Chicago, Arnold Grunigen Jr. of San Francisco, and R.C. Logefeil, M.D in Minneapolis.
In 1951 Dean E. Stephan was added, in 1955 John Bolten and Harley R. Walker and in 1956 Edward John Carnell, then President
of the Seminary. Well known evangelist Billy Graham joined the Board in 1959 and longtime member C. Davis Weyerhaeuser in
1960. In 1963 the Board of Trustees appointed David Allan Hubbard, a Fuller graduate, to the office of president. Other outstanding
appointees to the Board include Merlin Call in 1964, Max DePree in 1966; William Pannell, first African American on the Board,
appointed in 1973; Gary Demarest, also a Fuller graduate, was appointed that same year as well as Joyce Penido, first Latina
Trustee. Sam Reeves joined the Board in 1975, Lloyd John Ogilvie in 1976, William Brehm in 1983, Anne Huffman in 1988, and
that same year John Ortberg and Jesse Miranda. These and many others have made Fuller what it is today.
