Immediate Source of Acquisition note
The Modern Transit Society, Sacramento Chapter records were donated to the CSUS Department of Special Collections and University
Archives by Barbara Charlton in 1986 and 1989.
The Modern Transit Society, formed in 1971, consists of two chapters: San Jose and Sacramento. The society promotes mass transportation
development and related areas such as pedestrian and cycling access. The Modern Transit Society successfully lobbied for a
light rail system in Sacramento and pioneered the fight for improved rail service between Sacramento and the Bay Area. Alfred
Bulf was a member of the Modern Transit Society and was on the Newsletter Committee in 1983.
