Description
This small collection consists of documents produced by the Society of California Pioneers in support of election activities. The Society of California Pioneers established in 18590 in San Francisco, and was dedicated to the study and enjoyment of the art, history, and culture of California.
Background
The Society of California Pioneers was founded in 1850 in San Francisco by individuals who had arrived in California before 1850. Dedicated to the study and enjoyment of California art, history, and culture, the Society opened the first library in California, and a hall for meetings, lectures and social events (Pioneer Hall).
