Scope and Content of Collection

Public Administrator's Semi-Annual Reports is a small collection, consisting of single page reports addressed to the Superior Court of the County of San Diego regarding estates of deceased persons being administered by the county per court rulings for the years 1908-1931. Information provided includes case number, name of decedent, value of estate, money coming into the Administrator’s Office, expenses of last illness and funeral paid by the administrator, debts against estate paid by administrator, fees and other expenses paid by the administrator, property taxes paid by administrator, balance of cash on hand belonging to the estate, value of property exclusive of cash on hand, and property distributed to heirs. Other than personal names, all data entered are listed in US dollars. Reports for 1908-1915 also include a column for collateral inheritance to tax paid to county treasurer. Reports also include a notary seal and Clerk’s stamp, marking the report as filed. The stamp is dated and signed by a deputy clerk. Materials are arranged chronologically.
