Scope and Content Note

This series contains bill files created by Bill Campbell while he served as an Assembly Member, 1997-2002. The files may include bill analyses, amendments and resolutions, author's statements, press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, committee statements, and other background materials.
Campbell introduced some notable legislation, such as AB132 (1997-1998), known as the Children's Internet Protection Act, which required school districts to adopt a policy regarding access by students to internet sites that contain harmful information, as defined by the penal code. Also notable is AB1828 (1999-2000), the Halal Food Production Act, which requires stores and businesses that sell halal food to follow the same rules with regards to the Islamic faith as is required for stores that advertise kosher food.
